Field Turns Out to be Tight as Top Three Winners are Announced in Carder Motors Playoff Payoff Contest
By Jeff Toquinto on January 06, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com
For the third time, one Bridgeport resident has walked away as the winner of the Carder Motors Playoff Payoff Competition. In the seventh year of the competition, Kevin Carbacio has now won the football pick’em contest three times.
The win by Carbacio makes him the contest’s only three-time winner. Fellow Bridgeport resident Hugh Gainer, who had another strong season, has won the event twice.
Carbacio was the overall leader when the final week of the contest ended. However, as is done every year, the worst two weeks of each picker’s choices are removed that give each person entered their highest picking percentage.
The overall result didn’t change for Carbacio. He finished at 326-75 on the year. Michael Andrew, who does not appear to be from the local area (based on his email account) is the runner-up. And Kelly Ayoob, the spouse of former Bridgeport all-state basketball player Brian Ayoob, finished in third place.
Andrew had a mark of 318-90. Ayoob finished at 320-95, which left her just a fraction behind Andrew to take third place.
Former champion Jason Hartman was fourth. Gainer ended another strong year in fifth place.
Carbacio will have his choice of the three prize packages. He can choose a $500 Meadowbrook Mall gift certificate. Another choice is a package that includes Curtis Fleming Fly Rod Chronicles gear that features a hat, t-shirt, headware, decals and a Christmas ornament; along with two $25 Buffalo Wild Wing gift cards, one Almost Heaven Desserts gift card, one $50 Social Tap gift certificate and one $25 gift card from Mia Margherita. The final package includes a Bose Waterproof Soundlink Soundbar, two $25 Buffalo Wild Wing gift certificates, one Almost Heaven Desserts gift card, and a gift certificate for two complimentary meals at T&L Hot Dog.
The three winners needs to contact Hannah Edwards at hannah@connect-Bridgeport.com. Carbacio only needs to select his choice. Andrew needs to list his three choices in order, while Ayoob will then receive the prize left over after Carbacio and Andrew make their selections.
Connect-Bridgeport would like to thank Carder Motors for once again sponsoring the contest. Also, a thank you to our weekly prize sponsors of Buffalo Wild Wings and Almost Heaven Desserts along with those providing the year-end contest prizes.
Due to hundreds of individuals participating this year, the top 50 finishers are listed below with their record and their winning percentage. Thanks once again for participating and we hope to see you again if there is a season number eight. (Note: Names below appear in the same manner in which they are registered).
