The final of two co-defendants in a case involving a former Bridgeport mayor was sentenced in United States District Court in Clarksburg, a spokesperson for United States Attorney for the Northern District William J. Ihlenfeld’s office said.

Tara Tighe, the Public Information Officer, Community Outreach Coordinator & Assistant U.S. Attorney, said 51-year-old Angela Davis was sentenced to eight months in jail for her role in the case involving former Mayor and pharmacist Mario Blount and Davis’ daughter, 24-year-old April Davis.

Davis, like Blount and her daughter, pled guilty in a case involving various drugs. Last year, Davis pled guilty to possession and distribution involving oxycodone and oxymorphone, which are prescription painkillers.

The case was before U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley. Keeley, who also heard the other cases and issued sentences, did not go along with a request by Davis’ defense team.  Tighe said the defense  asked Keeley for probation or a split sentence that would involve incarceration and house arrest.

This brings to end the public case involving Blount and both Angela and April Davis. Ihlenfeld, however, hasn’t ruled out additional arrests as he said following Blount’s sentencing to three years in prison was still ongoing. April Davis was sentenced to probation for five years.

The Harrison County Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force was a key group in investigating the case. The Task Force includes members of the Bridgeport Police Department and is chaired by Chief John Walker.
