At the Jan. 25 meeting of the Harrison County Commission, Bridgeport resident and former West Virginia State Senator was on hand to present a check to the Harrison County Livestock Association.

The check was for $28,839 and is one of the last items of business the former Senator, who did not run for reelection, said he needed to take care of. Romano made the presentation to the Harrison County Commission on the Association's behalf. The funding comes from the Community Participation Grant fund program.

The funding is to be used for a proposed youth barn complex. If completed, the project that is an effort by the County Commission and the Livestock Association, would eventually host livestock shows among being utilized for other capacities.

Romano said in the event livestock shows ever come to the proposed facility, it could draw visitors in the "thousands." The proposed facility is still considered to be in the planning stage.
