Gallery: BHS Football Team Recognized and More at Monday's Bridgeport City Council Meeting

Although there was plenty of serious business that took place Monday at the Bridgeport City Council meeting, Bridgeport Mayor Robert "Bob" Greer also was able to have the pleasure of recognizing the state championship Bridgeport High School football team. Coach Josh Nicewarner was presented with a proclamation and the coaches and team members on hand were given ceremonial keys to the city.

Along with comments from the coach and the mayor asking if a "three-peat" was in order, Council member John Wilson also complimented Nicewarner and his players on excellent sportsmanship this year. He mentioned the final play of the state title game where Nicewarner allowed Frankfort's running back - who had missed the last half of the season due to injury - to come in and take the snap despite having to hobble on the field without his crutches.

Below are some shots from the presentation and a few other candid moments from the meeting.
