The statewide publication West Virginia Executive recently released its Class of 2019 “Sharp Shooters” honorees and, as is often the case, a local individual was honored.

Harrison County and Salem native James B. Swiger, the president and principal-in-charge of WYK Associates, Inc. and also the President of Architectural Salvation, LLC, was one of 10 individuals to be recognized by the magazine.

Sharp Shooter winners, according to West Virginia Executive, “are West Virginians over the age of 43 who are all-stars in their respective fields and represent what is great about the past and exciting about the future of the Mountain State.”

Swiger now runs the long-established WYK after interning there after graduating from the University of Tennessee. The firm has its beginnings going back to 1900.

While the firm has done a multitude of projects, they have been in the news in recent years due to being selected to oversee the multi-million dollar renovation of the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg.  The building, like many, was a personal place of joy as a youngster for Swiger.

Swiger is also being recognized for efforts beyond the workplace. He serves on multiple boards including the Bi-County Nutrition Program, Health Access, Clarksburg Kiwanis Club, Clarksburg Uptown, while also have a laundry list of past boards such as the United Way and providing philanthropic assistance for a number of local causes.

The most recent Bridgeport selection came in 2017 when Dr. Robert. “Bobby” Martino was chosen. If you would like to nominate someone for the Class of 2020 you can do so by visiting the West Virginia Executive Web site or by clicking HERE.
