A late-morning wreck along Interstate 79 left a vehicle in a stream of water and sent one person to United Hospital Center, according to an official on the scene.

The call to the Harrison County 911 center took place at 11:25 a.m. near mile marker 122 on I-79’s northbound lane. The area in question was roughly 200 yards before the interstate rest areas.

The vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Cavalier, skid off the road and into the median between the north and south bound lanes. The path the vehicle took off the roadway could be seen in the soft ground just off the highway.

Bridgeport Police confirmed that the transport was a female. Bridgeport Fire, also on the scene, confirmed that the injuries were not life threatening and that there was just one passenger in the car.

Along with police and fire, Bridgeport EMS responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation. Traffic was not interrupted along the interstate as a result of the incident.
