Man Being Sought for Taking Nearly $1,000 Worth of Clothing Items from Meadowbrook Mall Anchor Store

It’s not the clearest image available, but Bridgeport Police have had the public respond to others as grainy and even worse with positive results. The city police are hoping you can help identify this individual to solve a recent shoplifting case.

The incident took place at another shoplifting hot spot – the Meadowbrook Mall. This time, the target was JCPenney where plenty of clothing items were taken.

Police were able to get an image of the suspect. The image was taken from surveillance video that is part of JCPenney’s security system, and not that of the mall.

“We’re aware that it’s poor quality, but  it’s the best we have,” said PFC F.S. Toothman of the Bridgeport Police Department who is handling the case. “Sometimes it loses some quality when you take it from the video, but we have had images of similar quality lead us to the correct individual.”

The shoplifting occurred prior to Christmas. Toothman said it took place on Dec. 12.

“There was a lot of clothing taken,” said Toothman. “In this particular incident it was determined that $830 worth was removed from the store.”

If the individual is found then the male suspect will be charged with shoplifting, which is a misdemeanor. However, if the suspect in question has already committed at least two shoplfiting violations then a third offense or more is a felony.

“We appreciate the feedback, any feedback, we get on these cases,” said Toothman. “It’s extremely helpful.”

If you think you can identify the individual shown or happen to know anything about this case, contact Toothman at 304-848-6146 and leave a message if he does not answer. You can also reach him by email at stoothman@bridgeportwv.com.
