Meadowbrook Mall Announces Arrival of New Store as Part of Tenant Lineup; Business has State Roots

There’s some good news on the retail front. And for those wondering what’s next at the Meadowbrook Mall, there’s even better news.

Joe Bell, the corporate communications manager for the Ohio-based Cafaro Company that owns the mall, said earlier this week that UBurn Sauce Company has officially signed a lease. They should begin operations within the next month or so.

“They would like to be open by November. They absolutely want to be open to the community ahead of the holiday shopping season,” said Bell. “They’re a native West Virginia company and they have and have had other West Virginia locations.”

The company will be located across from Marshall’s in an area to the left of Books-A-Million. They will occupy roughly 1,007 square feet of space to do business.

“That’s not really a large footprint for a store, but it has a lot of good stuff in it that is a bit unique in its concept,” said Bell.

Bell described it having an old fashioned feel in away. He said it has a “general store” look to it that has worked well with its customers.

“They sell, as their name suggests, various types of sauces. They also sell jams and jellies, cured hams, honey products, beef jerky, old fashion soda pop, cheese, Amish food products and a whole lot more,” said Bell. “We are confident this will be a nice addition to our mall tenant lineup.”

Construction has begun at the site, said Bell. He said he hopes to announce more new tenants in the future, but nothing new was imminent.

The mall has had several store closings, as well as a few new additions, this year. Most notable on the closing front was the end of Elder-Beerman, which closed on a national level, at the mall as well as the Elder-Beerman Home Store. Lileigh’s Hallmark Shop announced it was closing, likely in October.

New additions include Boardwalk Arcade and Confections going in place of the long-time arcade Tilt as well as Torrid. Torrid is a women’s clothing chain.
