Medbrook Building Again Home to Locally Owned Urgent Care as Bridgeport Express Care Opens

That familiar building on a familiar location along Johnson Avenue has a familiar business in it. And less than a week after opening its doors, business is going well according to one of the owners.

“It’s going great,” said Bridgeport’s David Peasak. “We were expecting to be really slow our first few days since we didn’t really do anything crazy on the advertising front that we were moving to the new location. The first few days that numbers have been really good. Actually, it’s going great and considering Monday we just assumed it would be a day and turned out to be a really strong day we’re expecting this to a sign of good things to come.”

The numbers are at the new location for Bridgeport Express Care. On Monday, the business officially opened its doors in the Medbrook Medical Building on Johnson Avenue. For years, the same building hosted Medbrook Urgent Care and then MedExpress until it relocated to Emily Drive.

Bridgeport Express Care may be new to the building, but not to the community. Although no longer maintaining its former location, where they also had a drug testing company (it too is in the new facility), Bridgeport Express Care was a fixture on Chenoweth Drive for roughly six years. The site is located just off of Route 50.

Peasak previously said part of the reason for the move was the need for more space. Other reasons included better visibility and a facility that he felt would better serve their patients.

“The building looks phenomenal,” said Peasak. “It’s so clean and so updated.

“The space and the way that we’re able to move patients through will be a game changer for us and the patients,” he continued. “It will be much more organized. We want to bring back old urgent care feeling that was associated with this building when the urgent care was locally owned like our business is locally owned.”

Incredibly, this particular locally owned business was able to move from its previous location to its new site and have it ready in just three days. Peasak said the move and set up was last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“It was stressful, but we planned and organized and moved on Friday. Basically, it was a one-day move, but we spent the weekend cleaning and organizing everything,” said Peasak.

Even better, Peasak actually met with a few patients that needed care during the move, while the drug testing that takes place also continued. He hopes plenty of others will meet with the staff in the weeks, months and years ahead.

“We plan on being here a long time,” said Peasak.

The Express Care and drug testing business occupied roughly 5,400 square feet at its previous location. Peasak said their new location has 10,000 square feet of space on the first floor in the new space that is owned by United Hospital Center.

As for those coming in for drug testing, Peasak said they won’t have to worry about being in a waiting area with sick patients. Although everyone will access the structure the same way, he said those individuals won’t mingle.

Peasak isn’t the only owner. The ownership team also consists of his brother Tim and Natalie King Selario.

Bridgeport Express Care is open seven days a week. The operating hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Weekend hours could be expanded in the future depending on demand for services at the site.
