More Snow, Falling Temperatures on Way to Area

For those hoping the worst of the latest round of snow is over, there’s more snow on the way today and well into Wednesday and even Thursday morning, according to WDTV Meteorologist Jill Szwed.

“We’re going to continue to see light scattered snow bands across the areas. We’re anticipating several more inches of snow before this snow event is over,” she said. “As far as the actual amount, that depends on where the snow bands set up.”

Szwed said the predictions may vary, but there will be several more inches of snow on top of what we already have regardless. She said the totals could range between three and six inches. There is a little bit of good news for those worried about the wet and heavy snow that arrived last night and continued into this morning.
“We’re transitioning from the heavy, wet snow,” said Szwed.  “I don’t want to say it’s a dry snow, but it’s a bit fluffier and certainly not going to be as dense.”

The transition is the result of dropping temperatures. Today, she said the area is looking at temperatures into the low 30s and staying right around the freezing mark. Wednesday and Thursday has the numbers in the 20s.

“There could be some melting and with the temperatures dropping, you could see some of what is melting freezing,” said Szwed.

As for when this latest blast of winter weather will end, Szwed predicts that it should end early Thursday. However, she added that there could be scattered flurries much of that day as well.
