Another major sporting event is on its way to the City of Bridgeport. Starting today, Bridgeport will play host to a major baseball tournament being brought to town by Tournament Time Baseball. The event is dubbed as the “Battle of the Bats.”

For those who aren’t into fairs and festivals that they can attend in the area, there will be plenty of baseball action at multiple venues throughout Bridgeport, according to Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Director Don Burton.

Burton said due to the amount of teams coming in from West Virginia and several other states – and playing in multiple age groups – that several fields will be utilized. Much of the action will take place at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex. However, the fields at Bridgeport City Park as well as the softball field behind Bridgeport Middle School will also be utilized. More than 60 teams are anticipated to take part in this event.

Championship games will be played Sunday at all venues. The divisions that will be competing include a 10-and-under, 11-and-under, 12-and-under, 13-and-under, 14-and-under, a 8-and-under Coach Pitch division, a 9-and-under division and a high school division.
