Another project at the North Central West Virginia with a hefty price tag could soon be getting under way, according to Airport Director Rick Rock.

On Feb. 28, bids were opened for a substantial utility extension project inside the terminal building at the airport. The extension of utilities will be done at the new multi-million dollar terminal project off of State Route 279 (Jerry Dove Drive).

Six contractors bid on the project, Rock said. The apparent low bidder was Doss Enterprises, which is headquartered in Jane Lew.

The bid came in at $986,000. Rock said the item still has to be given the green light by the airport’s governing body, the Benedum Airport Authority, after the grant money that has been promised for the project from the federal government is formally approved.

The project will involve the extension of electric along with water and sewage to the new terminal site. It will also include the upgrade of an existing sewage lift station.

Mascaro Construction will be the contractor to build the new three-story, 45,000 square foot terminal building. The terminal, separate from other projects such as this one, has a $25 million price tag.
