Another area of Bridgeport that is thriving on the economic front will soon see a new business open. Likely early next month, a new Edward Jones office will open operations at Cambridge Place off of Thompson Drive.

 

The new office will be manned by Becky Burns. She will be joined by an office administrator.

 

“We’re going to hope to be moved in by Feb. 1,” said Burns.

 

While Burns will be new to the location, she’s currently doing work as a financial advisor for Edward Jones in a temporary location. Burns said she’s been situated at the site at the Home Depot Plaza as work progresses on the new office space.

 

The permit to do an interior buildout for the new location that covers roughly 900 square feet was filed with the Bridgeport Community Development Office on Nov. 21. The permit called for $53,000 in work to the space. Huffman Corporation in the contractor.

 

According to their Web site, “Edward Jones serves nearly 7 million investors from more offices than any other investment firm in America. We attribute a great deal of our success to our principles and personal, long-term approach to investing.”

 

Burns is looking forward to serve the Bridgeport and surrounding communities. She said she will be able to provide the full gamut of services offered by Edward Jones.

 

“We help people plan for retirement and live in retirement. We work on tax-advantaged investments, saving money for college, estate considerations and pretty much the entire range of financial services,” said Burns.

 

Once open, Bridgeport Community Development Director Andrea Kerr said space at Cambridge Place will become even more limited. She said space is getting limited.

 

“I think there’s only a few spaces available there and there are people looking at those as well. I’m of the belief those will be full soon,” said Kerr.
