New List of "10 Happiest Places in West Virginia" Sees City do Well; Bridgeport Ranked No. 1 in Earlier Poll

By Jeff Toquinto on April 28, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Earlier this year, the Web site www.creditdonkey.com, did a review of the “Happiest Cities in West Virginia.” Based on the criteria established by that Web site, Bridgeport did more than just fare well.

Bridgeport was ranked as the happiest city in the Mountain State by the site, which is a self-described credit card comparison and financial education Web site. Apparently, there is something to how that Web site determined its rankings as another Web site has decided to come up with the exact same list.

Although Bridgeport did not finish No. 1 in the rankings done by www.zippia.com, it did finish ranked No. 2. Cheat Lake is listed as the No. 1 in the “10 Happiest Places in West Virginia” rankings it recently released. Zippia is a career-based Web site, which claims to “use state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to collect data on millions of real life careers.”

Zippia claims to have used seven pieces of data to come up with the rankings that were released earlier this week. Among the components are residents that have insurance, own a home or have a job.

A total of 32 cities were included in the study. No cities outside of Cheat Lake or Bridgeport that could be considered local are listed in the top 10.

Editor's Note: Although the rankings do have statistical analysis, they are not scientific in the fact that any of the cities listed are the happiest or least happiest. However, we thought readers would enjoy seeing the rankings that show - based on the criteria utilized - that Bridgeport is once again considered a happy place to live.
