An accident involving a Harrison County School bus along Jerry Dove Drive fortunately didn’t result in any injuries and only minor damage this afternoon, according to a member of the Bridgeport Police.

Officer J.A. Frenzel said the school bus and a red Mazda 3 were both pulling off of Route 707 onto State Route 279 – Jerry Dove Drive – when the Mazda pulled alongside the bus and made an improper turn. The move eventually led to the accident.

“The front driver side of the bus made contact with the rear passenger side of the car,” said Frenzel. “There was no damage to the bus and minimal damage to the car.”

The bus had eight on board, along with the driver. Frenzel, the investigating officer on the emphasized there were “no injuries whatsoever” to those on the bus. The driver of the Mazda, who was the only driver in that car, also was not injured.

“It was an accident, but the driver of the Mazda was issued a citation,” said Frenzel. “Basically, he passed the bus while turning onto Jerry Dove Drive and buses swing wide.”

The call for the accident came in at 3:29 p.m. on the Harrison County 911 log. The Harrison County EMS was also on the scene with the Bridgeport Police.
