What was initially called out as a vehicle accident with injury turned out to be what appeared to be, at least damage wise, a relatively minor fender bender near one of Bridgeport’s busiest intersections.

The call came out for the more serious nature of an accident on the Harrison County 911 log at 3:49 p.m. Friday on State Route 279, or Jerry Dove Drive. The accident in question took place on Route 279 just prior to the road’s intersection with U.S. Route 50, which is close to the Taylor County line and just past Maple Lake.

According to Bridgeport Police, the accident did not require any medical transports and there were no injuries. It was called “minor” in nature.

The accident involved a business excavation truck and a black Lincoln four-door sedan. The sedan had minor damage on the rear-end of the car, while the truck also had limited damage to the front of it.

Bridgeport Fire, EMS and Police responded to the call. The accident did shut down one lane of the road temporarily. However, it did not back up traffic or cause delays.

The Bridgeport Police Department is handling the investigation.
