Not One, but Two Locally Owned Restaurants Looking at Potentially Calling White Oaks a Future Home

By Jeff Toquinto on July 14, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

It’s been a while since the White Oaks development has had any announcement regarding new businesses going into place. However, that doesn’t mean things aren’t happening.

According to Ron Stanley, the managing member of High Tech Corridor Development that handles White Oaks, things are progressing on a deal that could fill out the White Oaks Retail Village Building Two. It’s the building that is currently home to Starbucks and Bridgeport Physical Therapy among others.

Just how well are things going?

“I feel good about the space filling up quickly,” said Stanley. “I can tell you that we have two entities looking at the remaining space. I can also tell you that we won’t disclose anything publicly at this time. I’ve been around long enough to know that until the lease is signed you don’t say who you’re working to sign.”

The space in question is between Bridgeport Physical Therapy and Elegant Nails. Stanley said it’s actually set up for two smaller businesses, but that the two entities he’s working with would require the entire space to fill out the building.

What Stanley did say is what type of businesses are looking at the location just off of Jerry Dove Drive. And both are food establishments.

“There are two bays that are available, but we’re working with two different restaurants that would basically be one tenant filling out both of those bays,” said Stanley. “We believe both establishments, if either opt to come here, will be well received by the community.”

Stanley did say the entities were not national chain brands but were more regional and have locations in the state. One would be a “well-known” pizza establishment, while the other would be ethnic cuisine that had a healthy touch to it. Stanley said the ethnic establishment in question was not a Mexican restaurant.

“One of the two is very serious about coming here and I believe that could happen sooner rather than later. The other is more concerned about coming to the area to create a presence,” said Stanley. “We’ll know for sure if they sign a lease.”

The space that would be filled covers 2,400 square feet. Stanley said interest has increased from this time several months ago when only one entity was seriously considering the site. He also said the development would like to fill the space in Retail Village Building One that formerly housed Hermosilla’s Deli, but nothing has been moving in recent weeks on that front.
