Police: No Foul Play Involved in July Discovery of Body in Main Street Home

According to Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker, foul play has been ruled out in the discovery of a body inside a Main Street home this summer. Walker said the confirmation came verbally as opposed to coming in written report.

“Detective Gary Weaver said the State Medical Examiner’s office confirmed to him that there was nothing that was suspicious with this case. The death was of natural causes,” said Walker.

Because of that, the matter officially becomes an unattended death. Although those are not generally reported on by the media or discussed by law enforcement, this particular case was different. During the July 18 discovery, which took place in the afternoon, a section of Main Street sidewalks along U.S. Route 50 was blocked off with crime scene tape.

Along with that, double digit numbers of emergency services personnel from the Bridgeport Fire Department and Police Department were at the scene. Also adding to public concern were officials donning hazmat uniforms. The police released a press release calming public concern due to the fact that thousands of cars drove past the scene during the several hours that was needed to clear the scene.

Officer T. Rutherford handled the investigation. Due to it being an unattended death, no further information will be released.

Editor's Note: The above photo involving police tape and men in hazmat suits is what thousands of motorists saw in July; many of who thought police were handling dangerous materials.
