The investigation of a brazen daytime robbery of a Quiet Dell home where shots were eventually fired at the perpetrator continues, according to Harrison County Sheriff Albert Marano.

“At this time, there’s nothing new in the case,” said Marano. “It’s still under investigation.”

The incident took place Monday around 5 p.m. at a home on Stevens Run Road. The break in saw the individual take a gun and cash, Marano said yesterday. Additional details haven’t been released as the case is being investigated by Lt. Pat McCarty and Sgt. Dixon Pruitt of the Sheriff’s Department’s Investigative Division.

During the break in, there was an altercation involving the resident and the perpetrator. Marano said the resident suffered minor injuries, but nothing that required a medical transport or any type of major medical attention.

The individual in question is believed to be 5’6 or 5’7. Marano said it is a white male that left in a dark colored car resembling a Toyota Corolla that left the scene and Route 20 toward Barbour and Upshur County. The resident was able to fire shots from another gun at the home at the perpetrator, but Marano doesn’t believe the person was hit.

“The investigators interviewed several people during a neighborhood canvass. Some believe they may have saw a second individual in the car that left the scene,” said Marano.

Multiple facets of the crime are concerning, said Marano. And he said, right now, nothing is being ruled out as to who was involved and how the home was chosen to be robbed.

“That type of crime is concerning because they were doing this in the daytime,” said Marano. “Usually that type of crime is done by somebody that has knowledge of the victim or the victim’s circumstances, or their living conditions and are familiar when this particular victim comes and goes. That may or may not be the case, but any time someone goes into a home, particularly during that time of the day, it takes a much higher priority.”

The suspect or perhaps suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Marano said individuals with information are asked to call 304-623-6655 or 911.
