Prayer Vigil Set for Jack Rollins Tonight at Bridgeport Recreation Complex; Public Encouraged to Attend

According to Bridgeport Mayor Robert “Bob” Greer, the family of Bridgeport’s little Jack Rollins has scheduled a prayer vigil for this evening at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex at 8 p.m.

The family is asking for support from the community if they have time to come out, said Greer.

For those that aren’t aware, Jack is a 5-year-old who has been battling for some time a form of childhood cancer known as neuroblastoma. Recently, his family has posted on their Facebook page, “Jack Rollins Journey,” that they would appreciate prayers as his health has taken a turn for the worse.

“The public is welcome to come and attend and show their support,” said Greer. “Cancer and its ramifications are so difficult for adults to deal with, let alone a child.”

The Bridgeport Recreation Complex is located off of State Route 131. It is easily entered underneath the sign with the same name.

“This young man has battled this disease so much longer than so many others and so valiantly. He truly is a super hero. My heart goes out to him and his family and friends,” said Greer. “All you can do is pray for his peace and the family’s peace and ask for the Grace of God.”

If possible, bring a candle. You can also wear your favorite superhero t-shirt in honor of Jack. The event, according to close family friends the Robinson family, will last 30 minutes.
