Three individuals were transported to United Hospital Center, while another refused transport in a three-vehicle accident that took place on Jerry Dove Drive this afternoon, according to Bridgeport Emergency Service personnel.

The call came in to the Harrison County 911 log at 4:11 p.m. The accident took place on the Route 279 bridge (Jerry Dove Drive) that goes over Interstate 79. Bridgeport Police officials said weather appears to have played a role in the wreck.

A white Subaru Legacy suffered the most severe damage in the accident, followed by a brown Chevrolet Trailblazer. A white Lexus GX460 appeared to have suffered minimal damage, at least on the cosmetic front.
Bridgeport Fire officials said none of the injuries were life threatening. However, the wreck did create more than just damaged vehicles.

Traffic was backed up from the bridge all the way past the main entrance to Charles Pointe. Law enforcement was able to get one lane open to allow vehicles to move and slowly release the traffic gridlock.

Tow trucks from Dan Riggs Towing were on the scene at roughly 4:40 p.m. to remove the vehicles and get traffic back into a regular flow.

As for the cause of the wreck, that currently is being investigated by the Bridgeport Police Department. Officer R.L. Schuessler is in charge of the investigation.
