Supercuts Bringing its National Brand to Bridgeport

Another national brand is heading to the City of Bridgeport. And they’ll be locating in one of the city’s oldest retail locations.

The former Hill’s Shopping Plaza, which is currently the home to anchor store Home Depot, will soon have a new Supecuts going in place. The national chain that handles, as its name suggests, haircuts for both men and women in a salon setting will be going into the location that formerly held “Razors,” which was also a salon.

Ismail Latif, the franchisee who is the owner and operator of the new store, believes the new site off of U.S. Route 50, or Main Street in Bridgeport, will be a hit.

“Bridgeport is located right next to (Interstate) 79 and then you have Eastpointe, NewPointe and all of the other businesses thriving in that general area,” said Latif. “I thought it would be a good idea to situate a new location in that area.”

This isn’t Latif’s only Supercuts. He currently has one in Morgantown that is doing well, he said. Latif said if all goes as planned, the opening of the new store will be in February.

“We’re doing a lot of renovation work inside,” said Latif. “It will look brand new when we’re ready to open.”

Bridgeport Community Development Director Randy Spellman said that even though this isn’t a multi-million dollar investment in the area, it’s still an important investment on a number of fronts.

“This will be the first Supercuts within the immediate area and it’s important to again see a franchisee make their investment in Bridgeport,” said Spellman. “Plus, when the national companies and their franchisee looks at areas to be identified as a prospective location and opts to come here, it shows the vibrancy of the area.

“There was back end research done on this and it shows that a national chain believes it can make it here,” Spellman continued. “We’ve known that for a time, but this further proves it. When you land national brands it shows you’re doing something right.”

This will be one of more than 2,400 locations across North America. The company is known for its’ “no-appointment-required salons” and their Web site states they offer “consistent, quality haircuts at a moment’s notice.”

Supercuts offers professional haircare products.  Their product lines include Paul Mitchell, Biolage, Redken, American Crew, Nioxin, and others.
