The Threading Brow Spa, Meadowbrook Mall's Newest Business, Offering "One-of-a-Kind" Service

When it opened its doors for business in mid-December, there’s a possibility that many thought it was there as a late addition to the Meadowbrook Mall’s holiday business lineup. As it turns out, the business in question is here for the long haul.

Not only is The Threading Brow Spa signed for more than a holiday lease at the Bridgeport retail hub, but it’s offering a set of services Meadowbrook Mall Property Manager Marcello Lalama says is pretty unique.

“It’s great to have someone new to our tenant base that brings a new product, or in this case a service, we’ve never had before,” said Lalama. “It seems to be a very popular service and it helps meet our goal of providing diverse offerings to those visiting the mall. This is really a one-of-a-kind business at the mall and the area."

So what exactly is The Threading Brow Spa?

It’s a chemical-free hair removal process. Even more important to many that have utilized the service according to owner Bushra Mohammed, is that there’s minimal pain involved, which is a common them many say they experience when going with waxing.

“I’ve had some tell me there’s no pain with this process,” said Mohammed, who said she’s been doing this for more than 20 years, previously at a mall in St. Clairsville.

While the name of the business focuses on the eyebrows, there’s an entire list of services for hair removal shown in their brochure, as well as other items. It includes the upper lip, forehead, half arm, full arm, chin, half leg, full leg, nick, underarm, partial face, bikini, full face, eyelash extension, henna tattoo and eyebrow tinting.

The process is not limited to female clients or adults. Men and children also have utilized the service.

“With children, or anyone with sensitive skin, having no chemicals works well,” said Mohammed.

The process is not new and has been for around for centuries, according to multiple Web sites. It is described as the use of a thin thread that is “doubled, then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short rows of hair.”

Mohammed said she’s not received complaints. And that’s something she prides herself on.

“The people here are very nice and they have helped my business by telling others about it. There’s no pain, burning or redness and I would hope some would considering to try this process out,” she said. “If you try this out and you don’t like it, there is no charge.”

For those wanting to try out the service, no appointment is necessary and appointments aren’t taken. Due to what she called a “quick process,” walk-ins are the method that clients are handled.

The new business is located in the area formerly held by Refresh Spa. Lalama said many know the location as the spot that hosted Chic Wigs for a number of years. The Spa can be reached by calling 740-296-1314.
