A two-vehicle accident at the Meadowbrook Mall this afternoon resulted in one person being transported to United Hospital Center, according to Bridgeport Police Lt. John A. Post.

The accident occurred just after 9:30 a.m. this morning in the area just prior to the road that loops around the entire mall complex. The section in question was at the end of the parking lot near Target.

A black Hyundai Accent and a red Chevrolet Suburban collided. Although there was minor damage sustained on the front driver’s side of the Suburban, the Accent suffered extensive damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. The impact of the collision between the two vehicles caused air bag deployment from the passenger side of the Accent.

The incident took place in area where traffic was not impacted. There was light travel, as well, due to the mall not being open at the time of the incident.

Bridgeport Police weren’t the only units from the city that responded. Bridgeport Fire and Bridgeport EMS also were on the scene with the transport being handled by the city’s EMS unit from the fire department.

Post said the injuries involved with the transport were not life threatening. He also said the incident is under investigation by the Bridgeport Police Department.
