Two Vehicles Need Towed, One Person Taken to Hospital Following Afternoon Johnson Avenue Wreck

By Jeff Toquinto on September 01, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

An afternoon wreck along a busy section of Johnson Avenue not far off of Interstate 79 saw one individual transported for medical care and led to two vehicles being towed from the scene. According to Officer C. W. Barto of the Bridgeport Police Department, the individual transported was not facing life-threatening injuries.

The call for the accident went out after 2:30 p.m. and saw Bridgeport Police, Fire and Emergency respond to the scene. The incident took place near the intersection of Johnson Avenue and the Go Mart entrance.

According to Barto, a silver Jeep Patriot and a Blue Ford F-150 truck were both heading west on Johnson Avenue when the officer said the F-150 failed to maintain control of their vehicle. Barto said the driver of that vehicle, which ran into the back of the Patriot, was issued a citation.

Both vehicles suffered damage. The F-150’s damage was to the front, while the Patriot had damage to the rear.

Despite the time of day and location of the wreck, traffic backups were limited at best. Bridgeport Police were handling traffic to maneuver it around the wreck site. Dan Riggs Towing had two trucks on scene to remove the vehicles and workers with that company were cleaning up the roadway.

Bridgeport Fire had departed the scene by 3 p.m., while the police were still on the scene at that time. Police were taking information from those involved.
