By Jeff Toquinto on December 21, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to Harrison County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Jeff McAtee a man has been arrested in relation to a gunfire exchange with police Saturday.

McAtee said Lumberport Police got a call for a suspicious individual wearing a mask and when Police approached him in an area near Lumberport, near the power plant, things turned south quickly. McAtee said as the suspect was approached late Saturday evening he fired at the officers and the officers returned fire. The man in question was 30-year-old Thomas Ervin Campbell.

“He got away and they eventually hunted for him and located him,” said McAtee. “He’s arrested and in jail on what I believe are wanton endangerment charges.”

McAtee said at this time information is limited. Lt. Pat McCartey of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation. They are working with the Lumberport Police Department on the case.

He is being held on $100,000 bond. He is at the North Central Regional Jail.
