Motorists from Bridgeport and beyond that were traveling on Interstate 79 south of the city may have gotten a view of a serious vehicle fire that took place just prior to 8:30 a.m. this morning near the 117 mile marker in Anmoore.

According to a dispatcher from the Harrison County 911 center, a UPS delivery truck caught fire and burned up. The good news was that there were no injuries and no one was transported to any medical facility for treatment.

The dispatcher said that only the Anmoore Fire Department responded to the call. He said law enforcement wasn’t needed as the vehicle was well off the side of the road on the southbound side of traffic. Outside of those slowing down to watch the blaze, traffic was not impacted, according to one eyewitness.

Anmoore Fire extinguished the blaze, the dispatcher said. He added that they were clearing the scene and returning to the station at roughly 10 a.m.
