Vehicle Wrecks off Roadway on Brushy Fork; Tree Stops Car from Situation Potentially Being Serious

By Jeff Toquinto on June 20, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A single vehicle accident along Brushy Fork Road Monday afternoon could have been worse had a tree not blocked a vehicle from potentially going further off the road, a fire official said.

A call for a vehicle accident with injury went out on the Harrison County 911 log at 12:14 p.m. The wreck was roughly a mile from the intersection of Brushy Fork at Hinkle and Deegan Lakes Road. A two-door Mitsubishi Eclipse was involved in the accident.

The red Eclipse went off the roadway in one of the curve common to Brushy Fork. It came to stop when the front end collided with a tree off the roadway. The front end of the vehicle suffered extensive damage and the bumper needed to be removed as it was being pulled from the hillside onto the tow truck.

Bridgeport Fire personnel said there were no injuries as the driver refused transport. Anmoore EMS along with the West Virginia State Police responded to the scene where the roads, although not raining, were still wet.

Traffic was temporarily backed up in both directions as the tow truck personnel removed the vehicle. Hillbilly Towing handled the removal of the vehicle.

Traffic control was handled by fire staff. Road flares were set up to alert motorists of the need to stop and/or slow down in the area where the wreck took place.

The West Virginia State Police is investigating the accident.
