Whether or not the rain was a factor in a late-morning wreck along Interstate 79 remains to be seen, but the precipitation was pouring when a multi-vehicle accident took place at 10:13 a.m., according to the Harrison County 911 Emergency log.

A blue Caravan and a red service truck both were removed from the scene of the accident. The incident took place near mile marker 124; near the exit to White Oaks.

Despite the interstate being littered with debris that was being cleaned up by tow truck workers, it appeared worse than it may have been. According to Bridgeport Fire Department Interim Chief and Captain Phil Hart there were no medical transports from the incident.

Bridgeport Police, including Sgt. Scott Carpenter, were investigating the accident and working on rerouting traffic. A Bridgeport Fire Department truck was called onto the scene help direct traffic into the outer lanes of the three-lane section of the southbound side of I-79. The truck was parked just past the on bound ramp at the Saltwell Road area.

Officials with the Bridgeport Police Department were investigating the incident, said Carpenter. Traffic backup was minor. Dan Riggs Towing removed the vehicles from the scene.
