Well-Known Businessman and Harrison County Commissioner Frank "Chunki" Angotti Passes Away

By Jeff Toquinto on February 04, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Harrison County Commissioner Frank "Chunki" Angotti has passed away. According to fellow Harrison County Commissioner Ron Watson, he passed away at roughly noon.

Angotti was a long-time public servant in Harrison County. Among his past duties are serving as a member of the House of Delegates and on the Clarksburg Water Board. Angotti was most recently appointed to serve on the Commission when former Commissioner Mike Romano won a seat in the West Virginia Senate. Angotti, who had previously served on the Commission, was appointed by the Harrison County Democratic Committee.

“It’s tough to see a colleague pass, especially someone I  met 15 or more years ago on the campaign trail when I was running for sheriff  and I believe he was running for the House of Delegates,” said Watson. “At that point we became friends and ended up serving more than once on the Commission together. We were good enough friends that even though we didn’t always agree, we could agree to disagree and still be friends.”

Watson said Angotti’s passing today was bittersweet in the fact that the Commission held an event that Angotti would have actively been a part of. The Commission had a proclamation today declaring Friday as Jack Rollins Superhero Day in Harrison County. Rollins, turning 5 tomorrow, is the youngster from Bridgeport battling cancer that the entire community has rallied behind.

“Chunki would have embraced what we were doing because he had a big heart for the area youth and any child,” said Watson. “He passed shortly after we did that so I know that he was with us in spirit. God took him home at about the same time.”

Many also knew Angotti for his business exploits. He was the owner and operator of Chunki's Pizza.

Recently, according to multiple media reports, Angotti had suffered a heart attack on Jan. 23. He has been at Ruby Memorial in Morgantown after initially being treated at United Hospital Center.

The obituary will be posted when it becomes available.
