Off the Shelf: Beat the Heat by Taking Part in Summer Reading Program at Library Plus a Whole Lot More

By Savanna Draper on June 07, 2023 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Summer is in full swing at the library! We have focused a lot of attention on this year’s Summer Reading Program, All Together Now, but we are still offering plenty of our usual programs and events. For the month of June, we are hosting 44 programs and events for children, teens, families, and adults. Beat the summer heat by coming to the library and checking out what we have going on!

We have a great variety of programs for children, teens, and families this month. Our All-Ages Storytime happens every Wednesday at 12:00 PM. As the name suggests, this storytime is suitable for the youngest little ones to older children. Roots & Readers, our weekly gardening program, meets every Thursday at 11:00 AM in our Community Garden in the back parking lot of the library. Roots & Readers is a multigenerational program meant for children, teens, and families to learn about gardening. Know Your City: A Summer Reading Program Series for Children is every Thursday at 3:00 PM and is an opportunity for children and their families to come learn about different City departments such as Fire, Police, Engineering, and more! Imagination & Collaboration Station will be on June 9th at 3:00 PM.

A special event, I'm With the Band Performance by Tony Music, will be on June 22nd at 1:30 PM and promises to be a wonderful time. Teens are invited to create Affirmation Jars on June 23rd at 4:00 PM. Come read with the Mountaineer Therapy Dogs at the Reading to Dogs program on June 27th at 6:00 PM.

Adults don’t have to miss out on the fun! Join us to make a Puzzle Piece Wreath on June 9th at 4:00 PM. We will be holding Crochet for Beginners and showing you how to make a dishcloth on June 12th at 5:00 PM. Learn how to make a Seed Ball on June 15th at 4:00 PM. We will be hosting Michael Familant to give a Bigfoot Presentation on June 22nd at 5:30 PM. This event promises to be very fun and insightful! Are you into technology and computer programming? Join us to Learn CSS on June 23rd at 5:30 PM. Our monthly painting class, Brush Hour, will meet on June 26th at 5:30 PM. Popcorn will be provided at our matinee, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (PG) on June 27th at 1:00 PM.

Some of these events do require registration. View our entire calendar of events and register for them on our website, bplwv.org/events. We hope to see everyone enjoying the library this summer!
