Off the Shelf: For Students Needing Help in on School Front, Bridgeport Library has Resources to Assist

If your child needs homework help this school year, check out the library’s e-resource offerings! We have e-resources covering many subjects such as business, education, health, history, science, and several more. All of our resources are available for free to Bridgeport library cardholders. If you ever need help accessing or working with a resource, feel free to call the library and our staff can help. Read below to see a few helpful databases and resources we provide. 
 
Learning Express Library offers students unlimited, 24/7 access to targeted skill-building interactive courses in math, reading, writing, and software applications. This resource is geared toward many different age groups including grades 4-8, high school students, college students, and adults. It also includes test prep for CLEP, DSST Exams, LSAT, ACT, SAT, and many others!
 
American History Online spans more than 500 years of political, military, social, and cultural history to cover the American experience. It includes primary sources, photographs, videos, and maps and graphs. It has tools for students such as citation methods, how to avoid plagiarism, how to write a research paper, and how to evaluate online resources. 
 
Points of View Reference Center contains resources that present multiple views of issues. This database provides rich content that can help students better understand controversial topics and develop analytical thinking skills. It covers broad categories such as animal welfare, citizens’ rights, earth and environment, energy and conservation, health and medicine, and several others. 
 
Science Online presents a range of scientific disciplines through extensive essays, videos, diagrams, definitions, biographies, and experiments. This resource also includes tools for students such as citation methods, how to avoid plagiarism, how to write a research paper, and how to evaluate online resources. It covers the broad areas of biology, chemistry, computer science, earth science, forensic science, marine science, space and astronomy, mathematics, and others.  
 
Mango Languages offers training courses for 63 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Japanese, and even Pirate! This is a great resource to brush up on your foreign language skills, get ahead of your classmates, or pick up a new language.
