May is here and that means lots of great new book releases! Even though my to-be-read, or TBR, list is overflowing with several other books I want to read, I will be adding a few of the May new releases to it. There are many high highly anticipated books making their debut and the library has them all.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry is a romance novel coming out on May 3rd that takes place on a sisters’ getaway trip to a small town in North Carolina. One of the sisters, Nora, who is a literary agent, keeps having run-ins with an editor, Charlie, from back in the city. This is a perfect slow-burn romance for anyone who loves the world of books.

When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill is an intriguing historical fantasy novel coming on May 3rd. The story takes place in 1950s America where thousands of women turn into dragons and fly away, an event called the “Mass Dragoning of 1955.” This leaves one young girl, Alex Green, to unravel the mystery. This novel has running themes of expanding minds and accepting others for who they really are.

The Book Woman’s Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson is another historical fiction novel coming on May 3rd. This is a sequel to the highly popular novel, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. This story follows Honey, who is the daughter of the Book Woman. After her mother is imprisoned, Honey makes the difficult choice to pick up her mother’s old library route by horseback. Throughout her journey, Honey realizes that even though she’s in the hills of Kentucky, extraordinary women like her can make all the difference in the world.

This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub is a science fiction book coming on May 17th. It follows the story of Alice. On the eve of Alice’s 40th birthday, she wakes up as her 16-year-old self, back in 1996. Alice takes this opportunity to spend more time with her father and make positive changes in their relationship with the knowledge of how their relationship is in the future. This book is a refreshing take on traditional time travel tropes.
