By Savanna Draper on June 15, 2022 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

If you are a fan of audiobooks, this summer will not disappoint. There are tons of new audiobooks slated to be released this summer.

Summer road trips and vacations are the perfect times to listen to audiobooks. They can really help to make a long drive more enjoyable! While the library plans to purchase many of these as physical copies, they can also be listened to digitally on the WVDeli/Libby or Hoopla with a Bridgeport Public Library card.

Upgrade by Blake Crouch (narrated by Henry Leyva) is coming on July 12th. It’s perfect for those who enjoy scientific and fantastical thrillers. This book follows main character Logan Ramsay, whose genome has been hacked. With his super-human abilities, Logan must solve the mystery of his new powers and who could be behind the hack.

The It Girl by Ruth Ware (narrated by Imogen Church) also releases on July 12th. Ware is a wildly popular mystery/thriller author, and her new novel should be just as suspenseful as her other bestsellers. This twisty thriller is told through the eyes of Hannah Jones, who was best friends with April Clarke-Cliveden. Now April is dead, and Hannah is determined to find out who killed her.

Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan (also narrated by Julia Whelan) is a romance novel that comes out on August 2nd. Oddly enough, this story is about an audiobook narrator, Sewanee Chester. Sewanee is asked to narrate a romance novel with another narrator, Brock McNight. Will Sewanee be won over by the mysterious narrator Brock?

Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators’ Revolution by R.F. Kuang (narrated by Chris Lew Kum Hoi and Billie Fulford-Brown) releases on August 23rd.  This book is perfect for those who enjoyed Kuang’s other novel, The Poppy War. This book is a dark academia story set in 1928 London.

Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid (narrator TBA) will be released on August 30th. This story follows protagonist Carrie as she retires from a successful tennis career. She holds several records and is projected to be known as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Six years after her retirement, a young tennis player starts breaking all of Carrie’s records. This prompts Carries to come out of retirement and fight for the title that is rightfully hers.
