August is Read a Romance Month! Although romance is not everyone’s go-to genre, you would be surprised at how many sub-genres of romance there are including historical, inspirational, suspense, gothic, fantasy, contemporary, and so many more! Most people believe romance novels are written only for women, but I find that to be incorrect. I know many men who also enjoy what we would consider a romance novel, the trick is finding one with a plot and sub-genre that is interesting to you. No matter how you slice the romance genre, the Bridgeport Public Library has a slew of these books. Check out some of these reads and fall in love page after page!

 

Happy Medium by Sarah Adler follows the twists and turns of fake spirit medium Gretchen Acorn who is happy to help when her client hires her to investigate the unexplained phenomena preventing the sale of her bridge partner's struggling goat farm. Gretchen may be a fraud, but she'd like to think she's a beneficent one. If "cleansing" the property will help a nice old man finally retire and put some much-needed cash in her pockets at the same time, who's she to say no? This situation is not going to turn out how Gretchen thinks. 

 

How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang revolves around bestselling author Helen who pours everything into her career. She's even scored a coveted spot in the writers' room of the TV adaptation of her popular young adult novels, and if she can hide her imposter syndrome and overcome her writer's block, surely the rest of her life will fall into place too.
