How does a selection of materials hand-picked for you by our library staff sound? The library has a plethora of physical items available to patrons including books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, videogames, board games, puzzles, and more. It can be easy to get bogged down in deciding what to check out next. Luckily, we have a solution for that! First introduced in February 2021, we are revising our Browse Bag service. There are two ways to fill out a Browse Bag request—the paper form, which is located at our service desks, or online by visiting the website tinyurl.com/browsebag. Either of these methods promises great materials on the way!

 

By filling out our newly revised Browse Bag form, our library staff can help eliminate the decision-making step for you. Whether you're looking for a new author, venturing outside of your usual genres, or looking for something entirely new, our staff will do their best to choose up to five materials at a time that fit what you're looking for. On the form, you'll provide your name and library card number. You can then indicate what genres you might be interested in such as action, adventure, self-help, cozy mysteries, and several others. You can also select whether you'd be interested in receiving things like puzzles, CDs, DVDs, video games, or board games. Browse Bags are offered for children, teens, and adults. We will assign the Browse Bag request to a staff member who specializes in your age group.

 

Once our staff receives the form, we'll conduct some research by using library services like NoveList to find books and materials that work best to suit your preferences. If you've requested previous Browse Bags, we'll also make sure we're not sending you an item you've received or checked out previously.

 

After our staff has selected the items for you, we'll place them on hold for you and have them ready for pickup at the library. If you are unable to make it to the library in person, we can also offer Browse Bags via our Home Delivery service. If there's a material you received that you weren’t happy with, feel free to let us know that way we can do better next time.
