January is approaching quickly and that means new reading challenges! On January 1^st two new reading challenges will begin at the library. The Read to Beat the Winter Blues challenge is our winter reading challenge for adults and the 2023 Grow with Reading Challenge is open to all ages. You can register for one or both challenges by visiting bplwv.beanstack.org or by downloading the Beanstack Tracker mobile app on your smartphone or tablet. When the weather outside is frightful, the library can be quite delightful! For the Read to Beat the Winter Blues adult reading challenge, the library will provide events and plenty of reading material to combat the winter blues many of us face. As a bonus, the more you read and attend events, the more opportunities you'll have to win a prize! Those who complete the reading portion of the challenge (reading 25 books) will earn a voucher for one free bag of books from our daily book sale. Each badge you earn will also award you with one ticket you can put towards our grand prizes--two $25 Amazon gift cards and four $10 Barnes and Noble gift cards. Only one gift card will be awarded to each winner. There are no requirements on what type of book counts towards the challenge, and audiobooks, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and graphic novels all count toward your goal. This challenge runs from January 1^st-March 20^th.

 

Last year, our 2022 Global Reading Challenge took us around the world! It was a time of great exploration and adventure surrounded by different faces from different places. We hope that this year's reading challenge will sow seeds of curiosity and love for learning.  Join us for our 2023 Grow with Reading Challenge! bplwv.beanstack.org or the Beanstack Tracker mobile app OR come to the library and fill out a leaf with the title of the book you read and turn it in at the desk. Each month, read a book that fits the challenge theme to qualify for the grand prize, a Samsung Tab 3 Lite tablet. Only one leaf or Beanstack entry per month will count towards the prize, and only one will win. The challenge is open to all ages, and all forms of books including, but not limited to, eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, and picture books qualify.
