Off the Shelf: See the Bridgeport Library's Two Latest Public Additions Courtesy of Girl Scout Troop 35344

The library is now home to the two newest projects created by Girl Scout Troop 35344!
Last week, Girl Scout Troop 35344 installed a Blessing Box and a Rock Garden in the back grounds of the library. The Blessing Box is a 
mounted box where patrons and Girl Scouts can place non-perishable food items and those in need of them items can take them anytime. The Blessing Box is located in our Community Garden space as we felt this would be the perfect spot and fit in with the garden’s mission to serve the community. The Blessing Box has this phrase inscribed “Take what you need, give what you can, but above all, be blessed.” We are very excited about this project and hope that those who need these items will benefit from its home at the library!

The second project is a Rock Garden featuring brightly colored rocks painted by the troop. The Rock Garden is located right beside the back entrance doors of the library. It currently has several unique rocks the troop painted to get it started, and patrons and community members are encouraged to paint their own rocks and add them to the garden as well. The Friends of the Bridgeport Public Library and library staff will be painting rocks to add to the garden too.
The sign at the Rock Garden says “Welcome to our Kindness Rock Garden. Take one for inspiration, share one for motivation, leave one to help our garden.” If you happen across a painted rock in the community, flip it over and look for the message “GS Troop 5344 Rocks. Join group and post a picture. Re-hide or keep to enjoy.” The Girl Scout Troop has a Facebook page for sharing photos of rocks found. Just search for “GS Troop 5344 Rocks” on Facebook!
The library is so happy to have been a part of these two special projects with the Girl Scouts and looks forward to seeing patrons and community members enjoy them in the future.
