Off the Shelf: Summer Reading Program Begins and Library has Plenty of Events during First Part of June

As June 1st starts the beginning of our Summer Reading Program, Oceans of Possibilities, we have several fun programs and events going on the first few weeks of June!
On June 2nd, join us from 12:00-12:30 PM for our first Discovery Day. Children between the ages of 0-5 and their caregivers are invited to come explore the library. This series of programs will include activities ranging from playing with ocean-themed sensory bottles to exploring the textures of sandpaper sandcastles. Also on June 2nd, we will be having a Make Your Own Pirate Hat program from 2:00-2:30 PM. This program is open to children ages 3-12. All materials are provided.
On June 3rd from 1:00-3:30 PM, we will be showing a matinee of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. This event is for adults and refreshments will be provided. From 3:00-3:30 PM the same day we will be hosting an Ocean Puppet Theatre in our Children’s area for children and their families. Patrons may choose to enjoy a tale created by our Children’s Librarian or create and perform their own ocean-themed story. Wrapping up June 3rd we will have an Ocean Trivia Night from 5:00-6:00 PM. This program is for children and teens to show off the depths of their knowledge of the ocean and its inhabitants.
On June 6th we will be having a craft class Turning over a New Page: Book Page Sea Urchins from 5:00-6:00 PM. Adult patrons are invited to come make a sea urchin out of old book pages. On June 9th from 3:00-4:00 PM, we will be hosting a Pirate Treasure Hunt for children and teens ages 10-18. Will you be able to follow the clues and find the hidden treasure? June 10th will be our first Escape Room, Escape the Bermuda Triangle. This event is open to children and teens aged 10+ and their families. It will be from 3:00-4:00 PM in the Library’s Makerspace.
