Off the Shelf: Time for Patrons to Take Advantage of New eResources Available at the Bridgeport Library

By Savanna Draper on January 24, 2024 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The library has some new eResources for patrons to take advantage of!

The West Virginia Library Commission recently purchased several new eResources and gave all West Virginia libraries access for our patrons to use and enjoy. The new eResources include TumbleBooksLibrary, TumbleMath, TeenBookCloud, TutorWV (Tutor.com,) and NATGEO Kids. Whether you are a homeschool family, your child needs some additional support outside the classroom, or your child is just looking for some extra educational opportunities, these will meet that need!

TumbleBooksLibrary includes animated, talking picture books that teach kids the joy of reading in a format they will love. Created by taking existing picture books and adding animation, sound, music, and narration to produce an electronic picture book that you can read or have read to you. It also includes graphic novels, read-along chapter books, non-fiction, videos, and games.

TumbleMath contains math picture books and is a perfect way to help bring a math concept to life in an easy and accessible way. You will recognize many, if not most, of the books in the collection. Use the picture books as the hook for the lesson, which will help students – especially visual learners – see math in a new light.

TeenBookCloud is an online database of young adult and teen eBooks and educator resources perfect for middle school and high school. It includes graphic novels, enhanced novels, eBooks, classic literature, videos, educator resources, and audiobooks.

TutorWV or Tutor.com provides on-demand tutoring, homework help, test preparation, and writing assistance for students in grades K-Adult in over 60 subjects. No appointment is necessary! Tutors are available 10am - 10pm. Use their drop-off reviews, practice quizzes, video lessons, and The Princeton Review®, SAT®, and ACT® Essentials for self-study, 24/7. Call or email the library to get the passcode to access the site.

NATGEO Kids provides kids magazines, books, videos, and pictures from National Geographic. This resource is geared towards elementary school aged children.

All of these new eResources can be found on our website bplwv.org/kids and are totally free for Bridgeport Public Library card holders. If you need help getting access or have questions, feel free to reach out to us at 304-842-8248 ext. 3. Get started today!
