By Savanna Draper on April 12, 2023 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Are you getting a start on your spring cleaning? If you’re like me, your house has gathered some dust and clutter over the winter and it’s time to freshen things up and get your belongings organized. Sometimes this can be overwhelming or more challenging than we’d like it to be, but luckily, the library has some pretty neat books that can spark inspiration and get us into the cleaning mood.

Love Your Home Again: Organize Your Space and Uncover the Home of Your Dreams by Ann Lightfoot shares tried-and-true methods of decluttering, organizing, and maintaining your home, along with real client stories. In this book you’ll find guidance on things like handling sentimental items, embracing quality over quantity, cutting down on waste, and helpful tips for making your daily life easier including meal-prepping, organization methods for every room, small space strategies, and so much more.

Marie Kondo's Kurashi at Home: How to Organize Your Space and Achieve Your Ideal Life by Marie Kondo¯ is inspired by the Japanese concept of kurashi, or "way of life." Applying Marie Kondo's signature query "Does it spark joy?" to your mindset and behaviors allows you to take a more holistic and personal approach to curate your environment. This philosophy focuses not on what to get rid of, but on what sparks joy in your life and empowers you to embrace what you love about your life and then reflect it in your home, activities, and relationships, like creating a calm nook for working, scheduling weekly get-togethers with family or friends, or having relaxing nighttime rituals that promote restful sleep.

Natural Cleaning: DIY Solutions for the Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, Office, and More by Pam Farley is the perfect book for those of us who want to be more cognizant of the cleaners we use in our homes. In this book you will learn how to safely and naturally clean every surface in your home, from stainless steel appliances to moldy showers, which natural cleaning ingredients should never be mixed (and why,) how to customize your cleaners with essential oils, and so much more! Many of the cleaners mentioned in this book contain ingredients that are simple, easy to find, and inexpensive.

Clean Mama's Guide to a Peaceful Home: Effortless Systems and Joyful Rituals for a Calm, Cozy Home by Becky Rapinchuk tells you how to simplify, improve, and find joy in your cleaning routines. This book walks readers through each room of the house, showing them how to put new systems and rituals in place that will make the whole home operate more efficiently. Featuring decision trees, checklists, and space to reflect and record progress, this book makes cleaning a breeze, allowing us to slow down and focus on the things that really matter.

Fridge Love: Organize Your Refrigerator for a Healthier, Happier Life--With 100 Recipes by Kristen Hong shows you how to practice "fridge love" and use it as a roadmap for eating healthier, saving money, and reducing food waste while enjoying a nicely organized fridge. In this resource, you will discover how an organized fridge can make your life, including healthy eating for the whole family, easier. It covers general fridge organization (for all models and configurations) as well as shopping tips, storage guidelines, the best meal-prep containers, and more than 100 easy plant-based recipes made for meal-prepping.
