As February winds down, so does National Library Lovers’ Month. Although I personally celebrate National Library Lovers’ Month all year long and can never say enough positive things about our library, I wanted to share some quotes from our library staff about what makes our library special to them and why they believe it is important in our community.

 

Shannon, our Information Services Librarian says “I love our library because of how warm and welcoming we are to our patrons! From our friendly staff wanting to meet the community’s needs to offering hot coffee while perusing some great reads, we are here to make it not only a great place to visit, but also a great place to work!”

 

Natalie, our Library Technician says “Why do I love our library? I love that our library has become more involved with the community outside the library including adult and children outreach, homebound delivery, and Farmer’s Market for example, and that we provide help and resources to people who may not have access to them.”

 

Rebecca, our Children’s Librarian says “I love that our library provides our community with a space where people can connect with one another and learn. I love hearing laughter spilling from the conference room during Hooks and Needles every Wednesday just as I'm sure they get a kick out of hearing me read aloud during storytime.”

 

As I’ve said in previous columns, I love our library for many reasons. It’s the perfect mix of a great staff and a lovely community, we are always striving to provide new things for our patrons, the variety and volume of programs we provide is unmatched, and the dedication to our library and community shows in every positive interaction we have with every single patron who walks through our doors. Our library really is a special place!

 

As always, we are truly grateful for our wonderful patrons, warm community, and all the support from the City of Bridgeport. These aspects are a part of what makes Bridgeport Public Library such a nice place to work and frequent as a patron. We hope that you will continue support our library this National Library Lovers’ Month and beyond!
