It's a new year and that means new reading challenges are taking place at the library! We are opening the year with the Winter Reading Challenge 2024: Where We Come From. The challenge runs from January 8^th through March 1^st. This reading challenge is open to all ages and can be accessed on Beanstack by visiting bplwv.beanstack.com or using the Beanstack Mobile Tracker app available on the App Store or Google Play Store.

 

Every person has a rich history and unique stories to tell — dive deeper into your own this winter! Explore topics like family, history, and identity while reading Where We Come From, a poetic picture book for all ages written by John Coy, Shannon Gibney, Sun Yung Shin, and Diane Wilson and illustrated by Dion MBD. Log your reading minutes and reflect on your own story! Those who complete the challenge by reading a total of 5 hours will be entered into a drawing for a special gift basket full of goodies for their age group. The baskets are for ages 0-5, 6-12, 13-17, and 18+. Anything you read from magazines to graphic novels, audiobooks to full length novels count towards your 5-hour reading goal.

 

Need help getting started with Beanstack so you can take advantage of this challenge? We have written out some helpful instructions. To register on Beanstack, visit bplwv.beanstack.org or the Beanstack Tracker Mobile App (search for the Bridgeport Public Library), and create an account. Once registered, you will see all of our active challenges on the landing page. Click on Winter Reading 2024: Where We Come From and then click on Join this Challenge. Once you join, you will receive your first badge just for signing up!

 

Then, click on the Where We Come From banner once again to view the Overview, Badges, Rewards, and Challenge Log tabs. On the top of the screen, you will see Challenges (where you can view all current challenges), Reviews (where you can write reviews on the books you read for all members of the BPL Beanstack to see), All Badges (to view all badges you earn across all challenges), Reading Log (where you can see your progress), and Recommendations (where sometimes you may see a list of recommended books). To log your reading, click Log Reading on top of your screen next to the BPL logo. To complete the winter reading challenge, you will need to read 5 hours over the course of the challenge, so be sure to click Log Minutes.
