Off the Shelf: With Library's Johnson Avenue Home at its 30-Year Anniversary, Photo Contest is Under Way

It's been 30 years since we moved from the upstairs of the Benedum Civic Center to our current home at 1200 Johnson Avenue! To celebrate this milestone, we are hosting a photography contest for our community to capture what makes our library special to them with the potential for their photo to hang in our hallway!
We've titled the photography contest "Mirrors of History" to celebrate and appreciate our history, encapsulate all the wonderful things that have led up to where our library is now, and showcase how we envision our future.
We invite YOU to participate in Mirrors of History and submit an entry to library@bridgeportwv.gov from now until March 29. Please see the full submission guidelines below:
- Submissions will be accepted between March 1-29.
- One entry is permitted per person.
- A digital copy of your submission must be emailed to library@bridgeportwv.gov (we prefer the following formats: .jpg, .png, .tiff). with an accompanying entry form, which can be picked up at the library.
- Photos must include some aspect of the Bridgeport Public Library and can be inside or outside the building.
- If the photo includes library staff or patrons, it is the responsibility of the photographer to gain consent before including those individuals in the photo.
- Photographers retain copyright of their photos, but by submitting a photo you agree to let Bridgeport Public Library publish and use your photo online, in person, or in print.
- Those under the age of 18 who wish to enter a submission must have written consent of a parent or guardian on the entry form.
After March 29, we will post all the entries we have received on our Facebook page for a PUBLIC VOTE! That's right, our community will get the final say on which photos adorn the hallway of our library. The five photos with the most votes will win a spot on our wall!
