"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" on Tap for Movie in the Park This Evening

What’s the forecast for this evening at Bridgeport City Park? Well, if it’s the actual weather it’s one thing. If it’s what taking place tonight, it’s another.

“Well, the actual forecast is calling for a small chance of rain, but it looks like it should clear up for this evening,” said Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Joe Shuttleworth. “We’re going ahead and getting ready for the activity tonight.”

The activity tonight is at Bridgeport City Park. Staff with Parks  and Recreation were inflating the 16 x 20 foot movie screen for another installment of Bridgeport’s “Movie in the Park.”

The movie of choice this evening is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 2. Shuttleworth said it’s a movie for the whole family and hopes to see a big crowd gathered for the showing.

“We’ve been doing this for about a decade now and this, along with the Dive-In Movie at City Pool, are among our most popular summer events,” he said. “This one is completely free and we really want to see as many people come out as possible.”

Shuttleworth said they’ve had crowds of more than 200 in the past. He wouldn’t mind seeing that this evening.

“The numbers vary, usually based on the weather or something else that may be going on,” said Shuttleworth. “We usually average about 150 people.”

Shuttleworth said the only thing people need to bring are chairs and blankets. There will be no food vendors so families are encouraged to bring their own food items if they would like.

The movie will begin at dusk, or roughly around 9 p.m. Visit the Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Facebook Page by clicking HERE if you have questions about the status of the event due to weather.
