Public Works Concrete Crew Tackles Needed Project Near Maintenance Building at Bridgeport City Pool

As the summer winds down, work on certain trouble spots in the city are heating up. Today, a section of property near the garage area at the Bridgeport City Pool complex was repaired.

According to Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Director Don Burton, an old concrete pad was being replaced. City staff was on hand as a truck from Central Supply began pouring the concrete to make the repair on the 10x12 foot section that Burton said has become problematic.

“The work is being done in front of the garage door at the maintenance garage building,” said Burton. “The area in question was failing and was a slip hazard primarily for our employees, but it could also have become a problem for others that would be in that area as well.”

Earlier, the old concrete was ripped up. Rebar was then put down and the concrete was poured. Burton said the work was done by the Bridgeport Public Works Department’s concrete crew, which likely saved the city significant dollars as opposed to bidding a small project such as that out to a contractor.

Burton said the work should be completed today. He added that the area in question should be ready for use by Thursday.
