Access to BHS-Frankfort 'AA' Regional Final Baseball Contest Relocated to City Park Pedestrian Bridge

Bridgeport High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Matt DeMotto wants to let fans of both the Indians and Frankfort High School know of a change of entering the venue for Thursday’s Class AA Region II final between the Tribe and Frankfort.

Typically, access would be gained by going through the main entrance to Wayne Jamison Field near the concession stand. However, that access point will not be available to the public for the regional baseball game. The reason for that is that the possibility exists that construction could be taken place as part of the installation of a new artificial surface and six-lane track at the complex.

Even if the construction crew is done for the day, DeMotto said that won’t be known until late tomorrow. On top of that, he said construction material will be in the general area where most fans walk to the game.

So how will participants get access to the BHS baseball field for the game starting at 6 p.m.?

DeMotto said individuals will need to park at Bridgeport City Park or at the parking lot behind BHS. From there, individuals will either need to walk from City Park or to City Park and then access the BHS baseball field by the pedestrian bridge that connects the two venues. Individuals can also still park in the standard parking lot in front of Jamison Field and get to City Park by cutting behind Johnson Elementary School.

“We want to get the word out to the public, and particularly those coming from Frankfort, about where to park and how to get to the field,” said DeMotto. “As for the walk, it may be a little bit longer of a walk from the school parking lot, but probably the same or shorter if you park at City Park.”

Individuals will pay at the pedestrian bridge. The cost is $6 for adults and $5 for students.

DeMotto did say there will be an exception to the front gate entry. He said that spot will still be staffed, but only handicapped individuals along with the game’s umpires will be granted access from that point.
