BHS Football Team's Annual Olympic Games, Car Wash Set for Weekend

For Bridgeport High School’s football team, summer is just about over. With practice starting Monday, the Indians will wrap things up with some non-voluntary fun that they’ve had for years starting Friday and continuing on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Indians will host their annual pre-season car wash. The proceeds of the event benefit the BHS football program.

Coach Josh Nicewarner said the event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost of the wash is a $5 donation, but individuals can donate more if they would like.

Tickets can be purchased from any BHS football player. Tickets can also be purchased at the car wash, which is held in front of Bridgeport High School.

On Friday, Bridgeport will host its annual Olympic/X-Games for those who want to show up. The competition begins at 4:30 p.m. and Nicewarner is hoping to see people from the community show up.

“We’d love to have a crowd on hand and I think people will enjoy the fun,” said Nicewarner.

What people won’t see is football. The events include an obstacle course, a penalty kick soccer event, a tug of war, home run derby, an egg toss and basketball-related games. The competition will be held at multiple venues including Wayne Jamison Field, Bridgeport City Park and the band practice field.

After the competition, those left will be treated to a picnic. That is by invitation only.
