Bridgeport High Alum Musgrave Dealing with Injury as Rockies Place Southpaw on 10-Day Disabled List

For 2010 Bridgeport High School graduate Harrison Musgrave, things were going well after he became the first Harrison County resident in more than four decades to make it to the Major Leagues. Musgraves was called up by the Colorado Rockies on April 23.

Musgrave started his stint in the big leagues in strong fashion. However, he’s struggled in his middle relief role in recent outings. And it appears there’s a reason why.

On Saturday, the Rockies announced Musgrave had been placed on the 10-day disabled list. The reason for the move was stated as a right hip flexor strain.

The move came after a difficult appearance on Friday against the Mariners. In that outing, the 26-year-old Musgrave yielded three runs in three innings of work.

Currently, Musgrave is 1-3 with the Rockies and has a 4.76 earned run average. He has appeared 20 games and pitched in 28.1 innings with 20 strikeouts.

Musgrave, who started his prep pitching career at Notre Dame before finishing it at Bridgeport, led the Indians to the Class AAA title game his senior season where the club lost in the championship game.

After his high school career, Musgrave became a standout for West Virginia University. He helped the Mountaineers to early success in the Big 12 Conference before leaving after being drafted.
