His days in high school came to an end more than a month ago. His high school baseball career ended June 2. Yet the honors keep coming for Bridgeport's Brayden Lesher.

On Thursday, USA Today announced its 2018 All-USA West Virginia High School Baseball team. Lesher, the Indians' ace hurler this year, was named to the second team.

Lesher, a 6'0, 165-pound right hander is no stranger to accolades. Along with earning first-team All-Harrison County and All-Big 10 honors, Lesher was named captain of the Class AA All-State baseball team as a pitcher. That team is picked by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Criteria for the award is not listed in detail. USA Today states the honors are based on "athletic achievement from the past year." If that was the case, Lesher was a good choice.

The senior went into the state tournament posting a 5-0 record and that came pitching against the toughest part of what could be argued was the most difficult Class AA schedule in West Virginia. Lesher went 44 inning and allowed 13 run, 19  hits, and 13 walks. He struck out 48  batters along the way.

Lesher also was not a liability at the plate. Before Charleston, Lesher batted .433 in 60 plate appearances.

There were only two selections from Harrison County on the squad. Lincoln's Kobie Carpenter, a 5'8 and 160 pound senior, was also o nthe second team. He earned a spot as the catcher.

A total of 20 players were selected. Ten members on the first team and 10 more on the second.
